Ian and I returned Sunday evening from a nice visit with family in FL. Thanksgiving was a lovely day. It was warm and breezy and we cooked yummy vegetarian food, ate lots of cake and pie and caught up on each other's lives. Over the weekend we had fun playing with our niece, beach combing for fossilized sharks teeth and thrift shopping. I really miss good thrift stores. I think this will have to be a heavily weighed consideration in our next move. I found all sorts of great stuff and so did Ian...a cordless drill and battery, an orange tutu, a cool painted box, a quilted bag perfect for my knitting stash and more. I was quite excited when we got home and tried everything on at once...not sure what my plans for the tutu are yet, but I'll keep you posted as ideas arise.

Ian is off working on the car for the second night in a row, so I am left to entertain myself. I finished Fetching earlier and now I am on to catching up on some watercolors, particularly some birthday watercolors for a few far off ladies. I am listening to Leonard Cohen, letting the melancholic melodies transport me to times past and remind me of the intensity of feeling and living that somehow becomes more difficult to sustain in such a busy life. But, I am trying in my way to be free...

I have just uploaded my brand spanking new website! It is a momentous occasion, especially because Ian is at a meeting and I somehow figured out how to get this thing online without his help. It is not perfect, but I love and accept this website for what it is...my first attempt. There are still incomplete sections that I will get around to finishing up in the next few days, but please have a look and let me know what you think. www.laurendoran.com

I have learned enough not to set clear destinations in life, but what about a few goals? I am trying to finish a website for my photography, but the going is slow and each time I think I am almost done, one decision seems to make me rethink the entire design. I suppose I need to think of it as a work in progress or it may never go up. We had a nice weekend with my parents filled with tasty dinners and a hike in the woods. Monday I was offered a job which I will take. Oh yes, and I have some freshly scanned watercolors from the past few weeks....
